Establishment of Singapore Kwangtung Hui Kuan: September 25, 1937
In 1936, a group of influential individuals from Cantonese, Teochew, Hokkien, and Hainanese backgrounds came together to establish Kwangtung Hui Kuan.
Since its inception in 1937, Kwangtung Hui Kuan has been fostering unity among people of Cantonese and other dialect groups, advocating for charity, and promoting the heritage of Chinese culture. Over the past 87 years, it has evolved from a small community organization into an integral part of Singaporean society, deeply intertwined with the nation's history and prosperity.
At the 39th Management Committee Installation held on February 25, 2024, at Shangri-La Hotel, Kwangtung Hui Kuan demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by establishing groups dedicated to elderly care and charity fundraising. This event also doubled as the Lunar New Year Gathering.
The theme for this year's gathering is 'Great Singapore, Our Nation,' symbolizing our love and blessings for Singapore. Singapore has transformed from a small red dot into a vibrant gem.
